1079. Strawberry Brownie Trifle

While this dessert is composed of only three ingredients (one of which is a baked slab of brownies), it is so much more than the sum of its parts. Such a casual get together can easily be featured on any elegant buffet table. Strawberries and cream are a classic. Here, they marry brownies and dance in my favorite trifle bowl, a gift from a beloved brother and friend.
Of course, you can also assemble it in single serve parfait glasses for a sophisticated touch. My experience though is to avoid anything "mini" or "single serve" when cooking for a crowd. I got this recipe from the sadly discontinued blog Tummylicious Treats.

Ingredients:

1 pk brownies, baked
500g strawberries
3 cups whipping cream

Method:

You can make your brownies, or buy them, or bake off a betty crocker packet. Whatever you choose, the regular 8" by 8" square brownie is what's needed.
Cut the (completely cooled) brownie into half inch cubes. Whip the cream to a soft peak. Hull and chop the strawberries.
Using a large trifle bowl or single serve parfait glasses, layer the ingredients like a lasagne: brownies, strawberries, and whipped cream. Repeat to make three layers of each ingredient, ending with the cream.
Cover well and refrigerate overnight to allow the brownies to soften and flavors to amalgamate.
Serve chilled the next day.
